"You tried once to make language conform. Obey. You tried to tame it. You tried to make it sit, heel, jump through hoops."
This quote stood out to me most after doing the Young-Hae Chang and Yoko Uno exercises in class. After years of being told what to write and how to write in school or other professional settings, I am starting to realize that writing is something that does not need to have set guidelines, structures, or boundaries. Although some people try to make language “sit, heel, jump” like a trained dog, it does not have to follow certain rules be considered an excellent piece of work. The beauty of writing lies in the creativity of it, and there is no right or wrong way to go about it.
