Carole Maso Response

"You can't see a place for yourself in it and it frightens you. You dig in your heels as a result. Spend all your considerable intelligence and energy conserving, preserving, holding court, p05turing, tenaciously holding on, now as you munch your last green leaves, yum."

I chose this quote because I can really relate to it in my current situation starting as a freshman at Miami. I am not going to lie, coming here is really scary for me. Especially being so far away from my home town in Minnesota. Everything is so new and unfamiliar and a lot of times I feel out of place and like I don't belong. I try to start my new life here but sometimes I feel as if I am "tenaciously holding on" to my old life back home. I also understand how writers can relate to this when thinking about trying something new. I think it is hard for everyone to move on from something they knew, something familiar, to something completely different and unknown.
