Carole Maso Writing

"Despite all efforts to tame it, manage it, control it, outsmart is, language resists your best efforts; language is still a bunch of sturdy, glittering, charms in the astonished hand."

This quote stood out to me because it presents a valid point; Society expects written works to "conform" to socially acceptable guidelines- something that will sell to the masses. But, as the quote says, there are still those out there who are intrigued with that art of language and value it not on what sells the most, but just the sheer beauty of literature. This makes me realize that I don't have to write stories for other people to like, I just need to write for myself.
